The repertoire of Ensemble Gending specified.

More then forty composers have written new pieces for Ensemble Gending, confronting the Javanese gamelan with western percussion, with trombones, live-electronics, voices, string quartet and images.

The repertoire includes existing pieces of John Cage, James Tenney, Ton de Leeuw and Willem Jeths. The list starts with the most recently composed pieces and ends with the piece “Gending”, written by Ton de Leeuw already in 1975. Thanks tot his pieve Ensemble Gending was later founded and named “Gending”. This piece has been a source of inspiration for many composers who wrote after Ton de Leeuw for the gamelan.
